Delcon's pulse transformer technology
The key to Delcon’s product is the pulse transformer technology. The signal provides the energy to the switching circuit by way of a pulse transformer. This design is radically different from opto-coupled relays and modules in which the energy for the switching cuircuit is taken from the load circuit. Delcon’s design eliminates many of the drawbacks of using an opto-coupled module as an interface relay such as minimum load requirements, leakage currents, sensitivity to load line spikes etc.
Additionally Delcon’s relays have suppression circuits on load and signal sides to ensure that they work correctly in industrial areas with high interference levels. Delcon’s relays have been independently tested to the exacting EMC and LVD tests.
INTERFERENCE SUPPRESSION: All relays have a number of different circuits designed to eliminate different kinds of interference from the signal line before passing the "clean" signal through the transformer to the switching device.
PULSE TRANSFORMER: This component provides the 4300/4600 VAC galvanic isolation between the field and controller sides of the relay. It passes the signal across and provides power to operate the switching device.
SWITCHING CIRCUIT: Different relays use different switching devices. DC output relays typically use a power MOSFET. AC output relays use a triac or power MOSFET's. The protection component is a varistor or zener diode and will let high voltage spikes through the relay without causing damage.
